Ingeniería Sismo-Resistente S.A., ISR, is a Costa Rican consulting firm with more than 31 years of experience in project development in the areas of engineering and architecture, with special emphasis in the fields of structural and seismic-resistant engineering. Established in 1987, ISR has carried out a large number of projects, for both the private and public sectors.
The success that ISR has experienced is the result of its versatility when responding to client’s needs. ISR believes that project success is dependant on a close client-consultant relationship, which is why it adapts its organizational and administrative scheme to satisfy each client’s specific needs ensuring top quality technical results within the established time limits.

The reason for being of ISR is to lead in high quality services in the area of structural design and project management in the construction industry at Costa Rica. Javier Cartín Carranza, Engineer, Ph.D.
Javier Cartín is a founding partner and President of Ingeniería Sismo Resistente S.A. He obtained his degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Costa Rica and later, his Master’s and Doctorate in Engineering with an emphasis in Seismic Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.

León Mayer is a founding partner and Vice President of Ingeniería Sismo Resistente S.A. He graduated from the University of Costa Rica as a Civil Engineer and later obtained his Master’s Degree in Engineering with an emphasis in Seismic Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.

Eduardo Garro is a partner and the Engineering Design Manager of Ingeniería Sismo Resistente S.A. He graduated from the University of Kansas, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and his Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.
